Begin Preparing for your Exams Now!
Holidays are great, but they always bring their ugly cousin, Exams, along with them. With Thanksgiving next week, Central Carolina's own Tutoring Center Coordinator, Coley Ray, agreed to share some study tips to help you begin to prepare for your exams in December.Make a study plan. Organize your subjects to study deciding when and where to study. Remember to schedule in breaks. They're important and help avoid information overload.
Notes. Make flashcards, use sticky notes or reorganize your notes when reading chapters to help you retain information that you take in while studying.
Practice Quizzes. Quiz yourself or have a friend quiz you. Not only does it help you practice test-taking, but it also helps you to pinpoint what information you need to revisit in your studying.
Start with the Basics. Learn the general concepts first; then focus on learning the details.
Study. All the study plans in the world aren't going to do much good unless you do the actual studying. You can study by yourself or get some classmates together for a study group. Figure out what works best for you by following these tips.
Studying a little each day will allow you to learn without stressing to cram it all in the night before your exam. Starting early also allows you more time to ask your instructors for help on areas with which you're having difficulty.
Enjoy your holidays! Just don't forget to study.
